Membership Upgrade
Upgrading is the process by which a member can move from one membership package to another that contains more options/benefits/privileges without waiting for their current membership to expire.
Understanding Upgrade
To be able to create an upgrade for an account, certain conditions must be met:
- The account has an active membership on its file
- The next membership package as superior to the current one
- The account is not in the process of renewal
If the account is in the process of renewal, you only need to modify the information found on the renewal.
Upgrade a member's membership
- Go to the member file that wants to be upgraded
- Select
Upgrade
from the toolbar to create an upgrade - Select the membership upgrade from the Membership tab of the member file
- Define the next upgraded membership

- Complete the various fields on the membership upgrade Summary tab
Upgrade Information
Fields | Description |
---|---|
Membership Type | Choose the membership type for the next upgraded membership. |
Membership package | Choose the new membership package for the next upgraded membership. |
Package price | Pricing of the new membership package options chosen for the upgraded membership |
Membership Credit included | Amount of membership credits included in the upgraded package |
Membership Duration (Months) | Duration of the next upgraded membership in months |
Obviously, it is not possible to choose a membership package options whose price is lower than that which appears on the current membership during an upgrade.

Upgrade period | It is possible to choose to upgrade the membership for the remaining period of the current membership by selecting Remaining period. It is also possible to upgrade the membership for a new full period by selecting Full period. |
Start date | By default, the start date of the next upgraded membership is the first day of the next month. |
Next upgraded membership | Field that provides access to the next membership that will be created when the upgrade is billed |
Ignore membership credits | Allows you to override the validation rule that states that the chosen membership package for the upgrade must contain a greater amount of credits than the current package associated with the active membership. This can be problematic, for example, if you want to switch from a regular package that contains credits to a package for annual partners, which does not, but is still higher level. In this case, it suffices to ignore the membership credits in order to be able bill the upgrade. |

Fields | Description |

Choose benefit package later | Field that allows to choose if the choice of the benefit package must be made before the creation of the upgrade invoice and the next membership - If the option No is chosen, the account will appear in the Benefits dashboard. The benefit package can then be chosen at a later moment. |
Benefit package | Search field that allows you to choose a benefit package - It is not possible to choose benefits individually. In the case of a passage from a membership package which contains benefits to another which contains the same benefits and additional benefits, it will be necessary to create an upgrade benefit package which includes only additional benefits. |
Delegates Tab
- Switch to the Delegates tab and add or remove contacts as secondary (or primary) delegates on the next membership.

- Select
Add Existing Contact
- Select the magnifying glass of the search field and enter the name of the account to have access to all the account's contacts
- Select the contacts to add as delegates to the membership
- Select

to validate the addition of these contacts as secondary delegates
Remove delegates
- Check the delegate
- Select the three superimposed dots and select
Remove
to proceed with the removal of the delegate from the membership
- Select
Bill
from the toolbar to create an upgrade invoice as well as the pending upgraded membership.
At the time of payment, the new membership created by the upgrade will be activated and the benefits/credits related to the chosen package will be displayed in the Benefits and Credits tab of the member's file.
